Strong and minor zones: the other DAX zones of the day
Besides the few main zones, the daily levels of Straydogtrading.com list many more DAX support and resistance zones, from far below to far above the price. Straydog Zones & Levels draws them in two groups: strong zones, with thick lines and a shaded band, and minor zones, with thin, lighter lines. They show where price can pause on its way to the next main zone.

Every zone in the levels block that Straydog does not name as R1, R2, S1, S2, Main R or Main S is drawn in one of two groups. Which one comes from the levels block itself:
| Strong zone | A zone Straydog marks as strong: drawn with thick lines (width 2) and a shaded band. Some carry a name, for example Double Top. |
|---|---|
| Minor zone | Every other zone: thin, lighter lines (width 1) and no band, so the chart stays calm. |
A main zone can also be marked as strong; then it stays a main zone, but with thick lines.
How traders use them
- Stops on the way. Between two main zones the DAX often pauses at a strong or minor zone, as at 25,165–25,175 in the example.
- The next target. After a break through a main zone, the next zone above or below shows where the move may slow down — the strong Double Top above the day's high in the example.
- Less is more. Minor zones are drawn lightly on purpose. Switch them off when you only want the zones that matter most.

How Straydog Zones & Levels shows them
The zones come from the levels block you paste in the settings and are drawn across the whole chart. The prices are DAX index prices: on the DAX index and on index CFDs they are drawn as they are; on a DAX future (FDAX, FDXM, FDXS) or a future CFD every zone is shifted to the futures price with the offset from the levels block.

Frequently asked questions
What is the difference between a strong and a minor zone?
The levels block says which zones are strong. Strong zones are drawn with thick lines and a shaded band, minor zones with thin, lighter lines. Both are support and resistance; strong zones weigh more.
And the difference with a main zone?
Main zones are the few zones Straydog names R1, R2, S1, S2, Main R or Main S: the key zones of the day. See main zones.
Why is my chart so full?
The block lists zones far above and below the price. Switch off Minor zones, or zoom the price scale to the area around the price.
Do the zones work on FDAX?
Yes. On FDAX, FDXM, FDXS and the DE40FU CFD every zone is shifted with the offset from the levels block. Fine-tune it with Future offset adjustment.
